an open letter to LiveJournal users
Hi there.
The LJ-cut tag is a wonderful thing.
When you use it, though? Please don't put important information in the cut-tag text and then not repeat it in the body of your post.
I can't always remember what you said by the time the entry loads -- and what about people who get to your entry via a direct link and never see the journal home or friends page where the cut-text appears in the first place?
If you want us to know something, like the context of the cut-tagged section of the post (especially when there are multiple cuts categorised only in the cut-tag text!), the title of your story, the book you're reviewing, the significance of the anecdote you're relating, etc., please repeat it after the cut tag. ( Like this. )
Thank you,
the Jack
