Happy winter gift-giving holiday to... me!

Like many of you, I participated in the While We Dream of Yuletide Treasure ([livejournal.com profile] yuletide) and Jingle Bells, Batman Smells ([livejournal.com profile] jbbs) challenges in 2004. (I didn't find out about [livejournal.com profile] 3_ships until way too late, but for that very reason I'm pimping it out now.) This meant I had to write stories to someone else's specifications and on a deadline -- they're not called challenges for nothing -- but it also meant I received stories myself.

In alphabetical order:

Hard Candy Holiday, by [livejournal.com profile] wanderlustlover -- The Titans; Roy/Dick; PG-13. (Not posted to author's LJ as yet.)
This is a painful yet sweet Christmas story, set during the Grayson/Jiminez TITANS period. Amanda gets bonus points for including Donna and Lian, as well as for the story Dick shares with Roy about his mother.

In the mood to lose my way, by [livejournal.com profile] thete1 -- Static Shock (listed as "DC Animated Universe" fandom on the archive); Gear/Static, Gear/Robin; PG-13. Posted to author's LJ here.
Yes, I hit the Yuletide jackpot and was randomly assigned Te to write for me. ::grin:: I'm still more speechless with BWEE over this story than anything else. It's wonderful Richie-loves-Virgil slash, but it's also excellent fanfiction for the show itself, in the sense that it makes connections and fills in holes that were there in canon waiting for the right writer's touch. And the presence of Robin (Timmy) and Flash makes it a much easier read for those less familiar with the show.

Sanctuary, by [livejournal.com profile] evremonde -- Sesame Street; Big Bird, Snuffleupagus; G. Posted to author's LJ here.
An early New Year's Resolutions challenge story, this was a delightful, unexpected surprise. Lorena went with the 4-5 year old characterisation that Bird and Snuffy are meant to have (at least according to their creators), so even I'm glad that it didn't get smutty. Sweet and, well, a little sad, but that's okay because everyone is sad sometimes. Anyone who ever enjoyed Sesame Street as a kid should read it.

And I'm wearing the fantastic hat I received as another unexpected holiday gift this year, fleece-lined wool with earflaps that matches my hair (and for those of you who have seen my hair, yes, it matches the odd ashy-dark-brown of my locks AND the beads!) ...yeah, I'm in a GOOD mood.
