I'll show you mine if you show me yours

The original and best pick-up line!

Er. I mean... Victoria [livejournal.com profile] musesfool's masochistic meme. Late to the party, as per usual, but what the heck.

As my subject line hinted, if you fill this out for me and my writing, I'll reciprocate with you and yours. Also, though normally I eschew (and actively hide from) e-mail, just this once go ahead if it makes it easier for you to answer; of course there's always the comments, too.

1) What was the first story you read that I wrote?
1a) Did you like it or not?
1b) Why or why not?
1c) What do you remember most about it?

2) What story of mine do you like the best?
2a) Why?
2b) What separates it from the other stuff I wrote?
2c) What separates it from other stories like it?

3) What story of mine do you like the *least*?
3a) Why?
3b) What separates it from the other stuff I wrote?
3c) What separates it from other stories like it, if anything?

4) What about my writing style grabs you?
4a) What stories exemplify this style?

5) What type of story (not which characters) would you like to see me write?

6) Is there a specific character or situation you'd like to see me try my hand at?
6a) Why do you think I'd be good at it?

7) Is there anything, in your experience, that you think would help me fix a specific flaw in my writing?

I'm most interested in questions 3 and 4, so if you want to go at this half-assed and not answer every question exhaustively, well, can't say as I blame you.

Hope, you are specifically and categorically forbidden from mentioning the terms 'active' or 'passive' in answering #7.

For those who might actually have come across them way back when, my three published dueSouth stories are... damn, the archive's down in its new home, too. Okay, those stories will go up here within the next day or so, for anyone whose first exposure to my fiction was one of those three; I also wrote a couple of Highlander fics even longer ago, but I don't have copies of them, so if anyone else out there does, let me know?

All my SV fiction is at the SSA (author name Jack) or here (my lone Batverse story's there too).

1) What was the first story you read that I wrote?
And the Sailor, Home from the Sea
1a) Did you like it or not?
Yeah
1b) Why or why not?
Hmm. Because it was well written in a time when lots of crap was being posted?
1c) What do you remember most about it?
Nice first person. Clear, rich tone running through.

2) What story of mine do you like the best?
Seven Veils.
2a) Why?
It just ... really *works* for me. Effective rhythm and style, and the messy and confusing inside of Clark's head, and how he relates to all the different people in his life. *cough*Chlark issues? Me*cough*
2b) What separates it from the other stuff I wrote?
It seems slightly clearer, maybe. More focused?
2c) What separates it from other stories like it?
Dunno.

3) What story of mine do you like the *least*?
The Utterly Perfect Murder.
3a) Why?
It just ... doesn't do much for me, I guess.
3b) What separates it from the other stuff I wrote?
I think it's just my reaction more than anything else.
3c) What separates it from other stories like it, if anything?

4) What about my writing style grabs you?
Hmm. It's well written, subtle, with all these complex things coming through these relatively simple sentences.
4a) What stories exemplify this style?
Uh. Seven Veils, Greenlit, And Now the Sailor

5) What type of story (not which characters) would you like to see me write?
Porn! Write porn!

*cough*

6) Is there a specific character or situation you'd like to see me try my hand at?
Heh. I'll go with Hope and encourage the happyfic.
6a) Why do you think I'd be good at it?
Because you write well. And they're in love! How can you resist?

7) Is there anything, in your experience, that you think would help me fix a specific flaw in my writing?
Nothing springs to mind.
