remember how much fun university entrance exams were?

So I mentioned earlier that AIM booted me off this mornng. I left out the part where it waited for a particularly assy time to do it. See for yourself:

Jack: you never studied latin word roots for college entrance exams, did you?
Jenn: It wans't even in a good way.
Jenn: College entrance exams were pieces of cake.
Jenn: Of course I didn't study.
Jenn: *smiles sunnily*
Caro: my foot hurts
Jack: oh, really?
Jenn: *pets foot*
Jenn: What happened to it.
Caro: i dunno. my arch hurts.
Jenn: Huh.
Jack: mitigating : exonerate :: exigent : ?
Jenn: Where are the four options?
Jack: if you know an answer that fits, you don't need no multiple choices.
Jack: or, if you want to give me a couple minutes, i can come up with 3 sufficiently tricky wrong answers...
Jack: music: sleep on the left side, leave the right side free
Jack: this makes me need new cooperfic YESTERDAY. damnit.
Caro: bed now. night peoples. *hugs chat*
Jack: night caro!
Caro has left the room.
Jenn: I'm off too. NIght!
Jack: hold on a sec?
Jenn has left the room.
Jack: damnit. and i have the evil multiple choice answers of doom, too.
Molly: *snicker* Couldn't you have just pointed out that life rarely comes in a handy multiple choice format?
Jack: i did!
Molly: Huh. Indeed you did. You should leave it at that! It's an important truth!
J: but we were talking about college entrance exams
Jack: but then it occurred to me i could come up with multiple choice options harder than the open-ended option
J: which do
Jack: see, look:
Molly: That is true. I never once studied for an entrance exam.
Molly: Wait, that's not true. I spent three days cramming for the LSAT.

...and this is the point at which I had the answers all typed into the little window, and I hit "enter" and they disappeared, and I waited for them to appear in the chat. And waited. And waited... And then I realized I'd been kicked off.

The good news? I managed to save the question and answers in a program that wasn't mocking me with its assy work ethic. I was just going to save them for Jenn, but then I thought, hey, why not let everyone play?

So you're going to give the reasoning in your next post, right?

You think I should? Okay. If not the very next, then first post tomorrow.

Meanwhile, a hint: the key to this analogy is circumstances.

That was where I was giong with it, but I still suspect I got the wrong answer. Alas!

I cannot believe that there are actually *more* words on this planet that I do not know.

I thought I had filled in the few holes in my vocabulary in August while studying for the GREs.

Well, this is grievously overdue, but.

The correct answer, as most of you who played figured out (or guessed right), was B. expedite.

Thanks to everyone who answered. Hope you had fun, and remember, this will not affect your grade.
