NEW Farscape is coming back!

The cast and the Jim Henson Company people are in Sydney (Australia) NOW working on a 4-hour miniseries!

Reportedly, it will pick up where the series -- abruptly, thank you SciFi -- left off.

Even better: depending on how well the miniseries does, the new backers may fund further production!

No news yet on where the miniseries will air, or when, beyond a guesstimate of late 2004/early 2005.

That gives all of us Farscape fans most of a year, at least, to bring as many new fans to the series as we can... and all of you people who missed the best science fiction TV series ever the first time round the same amount of time to catch up.

ETA:

There are DVD collections of the first, second and third seasons available, as well as DVDs for some, but not (yet) all, of fourth season. There don't seem to be VHS versions for sale of the episodes after season two, from what I could tell from a brief trip to Froogle and Amazon.

On the other hand, there are plenty of fans around who have their own, unofficial copies, and some of us can even dub copies off for those who don't.

To get a fix just by turning on your TV at the right time (in North America, anyway), check out my guide to SciFi's current, confusing Farscape reruns schedule.

Wow, first I hear the news that "Next year, Joss Whedon will be writing an episode of Justice League" and now this. My geeky heart sings with joy.

LOL, where have you been? that news broke weeks ago. :)

And that tidbit was news to me!

By all that's holy... Joss writing an ep of Justice League? It'll be gay enough to give Pat Robertson a heart attack.

Where have I been? Holed up writing my [livejournal.com profile] yuletide fic, then busy reading, feedbacking and reccing other folks' contributions, and working on more fic.

The update is noted on the Save Farscape site as 3 January 2004...

It doesn't matter when the news "first" broke, really; some people had heard already, but some hadn't. The latter were who I posted for.

Well, that and to squee.

Yeah, it doesn't look like it'd be easy to get a full season for under US$100 on DVD, if it's possible at all. (On top of the wait of unknown length for the remainder of season 4 so be released, not to mention the people who don't yet have DVD players...)

I'd wondered about the (official release) VHS situation -- thanks for the info.

I'll have my own complete set of tapes by the end of the month, if my cable reception can manage not to cut out during "Suns and Lovers" this time around. It's hard to feel bad about dubbing off the broadcasts when they make it so difficult to get the eps any other way.

Depending on how you feel about downloads and bootlegs...here's a soure that has all four seasons:

(go up one level for her e-mail)

I got Wolf Lake and all the Babylon 5 movies from her, which made me very happy as I could find them nowhere else. She's not a gouger trying to profit. She's just a fan.

*disclaimer: I have done business with her once; don't know her otherwise*
