Is it any wonder I'm behind on updating my LJ, not to mention on reading & commenting on other peoples'? Bad enough I was without internet access for a couple of days this week, but the real distraction has been the fic.

First Kitty finally (after much tortuous teasing) posted Blood Sports VI: Quarry. Then -- eerily enough, the morning after I dreamed of Chicken Kiev -- Jenn released the new and improved Sleep While I Drive, now with 25% more Clexy goodness. And now Kitty's given us Blood Sports VII: Blind, well before I would have expected it... not that I'm complaining. Oh, no no no. And all this is not to mention the other fic that's appeared recently.

Plus I've been writing a bit. The hook I'd been wanting for a Zero-based fic thwapped me like a 2x4 to the third eye, so I've been rewatching the ep and making pages of longhand notes. And apparently I'm going to have to stop even thinking there's a kind of story I can't write, because last night and today Lionel has been telling me some rather scary things...

Like I need more WIPs. Feh. Then again, it's better than block.

Yeah, since the writers fumbled the ball so badly on it. (Yikes, did I just use an American football metaphor?) There were things to like about it, certainly, but Zero's failure to live up to audience expectations overshadowed the good points it had. And much as I like the concept of multiple versions of what happened, three is just insufficient, and the 42 minute cap be damned. Why yes, Rashomon is one of my favourite works of literature. That's what got me thinking about a Zerofic in the first place; it was figuring out a basis for more and-maybe-it-happened-this-ways that had me stumped. Now it's just a matter of writing it.
