"Cat and the Canary" ...got your tongue? (JLU 4.1)

Mildly spoilery reactions behind the cut.

Finally, after months of teasing us with glimpses, they gave us the Dinah ep. I was a little bit o.0 at the gravity-defying decolletage of her uniform when the jacket came off -- and I'm used to Diana! -- but, like other people I've seen posting about the ep, I loved the attention to detail in animating Dinah's fight sequences. I'm no expert in judo or aikido myself, but those sure looked like real moves.

It was very cool to see a JSA character, and an older character, in the form of Wildcat. (Is anybody shocked that I got a happy when he pushed his cowl back to reveal his age-cragged face and greyed hair? You have seen my old!Bruce icon, right?) The way his problem was presented could have come off as cringe-worthy after-school-special drivel, but it didn't, at all.

In other news, J'onn is definitely being coded female in JLU. One difference between season 3 and season 4, though: he's been upgraded from Lieutenant Uhura to Ship's Counselor Deanna Troi.

Anybody know who's really going to be in next week's ep?

ETA: D'OH. Sorry if anybody was inadvertently spoiled by the botched cut-tag.

whooops...

I think she was doing Tae Kwon Do. I recognsied a lot of the kicks. ANd my ex used to do the run-up-the-wall backflip, and he was a TKD and Wushu stylist.

Next week is Scott Free (Mr. Miracle), played by Ioan Gryffyd or however that lovely boy spells his name...

I loved this episode. Like, there was super amazing love for it. When I wasn't ogling the animation, I was just grinning and thinking, 'Oh, Ollie...' I know it was supposed to be more of a Dinah episode, but for me it was all about Ollie and their interaction. I'm still perhaps a bit too happy about it - almost four hours later.

I'm hearing next week's going to be, as [livejournal.com profile] taraljc said, Ioan Gruffudd as Mr. Miracle...and the return of Michael Rosenbaum as Flash. :D
