Our Cultural Icons; Our Big Gay Heroes

Okay, so I can't actually imagine anybody both caring enough about who won the various VH-1 "Big In 2003" awards to want to watch the whole show and still needing not to be spoiled as to the actual winners. Just to be on the safe side, though, I'll do this without spilling which of the nominees for Big Gay Hero actually walked off with the big gay trophy. (Which doesn't, in fact, look entirely unlike the Stanley Cup; but then, if ever there was a sport rife with homoerotic tension sublimated to violence, it's hockey.)

Various gay pioneers from film and TV history were acknowledged during the Big Gay Hero award acceptance speech... including, to Jack's squeeing delight, "Batman and Robin" and "Bert and Ernie."

Hm. Why do I still not have a Bert/Ernie icon?

Hey, I didn't win the Big Gay Hero award! Blame them!

Sheesh. And to think I posted the quotes both to squee with fellow slashers, and to be able to point to it and say "see, it's not just us slashers!" to certain people ::cough:: who say us slashers are nuts for seeing pairings like these.
