Can I say no to Te? Not so far.
She was the one who broke the kiss, finally, cheeks flushed and only breathing a little hard. He was panting like... well, like a normal, mortal man who'd just been making out with a woman possessed of supernatural strength.
Getting a good grip on his beard, she turned his head to the side, nipped behind his ear, and whispered, "If you call me Diana, you will be very, very sorry," before pulling at the laces of his tunic and taking her turn to initiate their second kiss.
Donna Troy / Oliver Queen
"Don't think I won't shoot you."
"Oh, I don't doubt you would." She takes a step forward, and another. "Not that it would do you any good, from this distance; I'd knock the arrow right out of the air." She keeps coming closer. "Or catch it and send it back at you, if you piss me off."
He doesn't let up the tension on the string. He can hold it for minutes at a time, if necessary. "You'd have to be much closer for that thing to be any threat to me," she purrs. He keeps the arrow aimed at her throat as she approaches.
"And if I get too close..." She shifts forward suddenly, blurringly, almost superhumanly fast, and the next thing he knows she has one hand on the bow and the other at his throat, thumb to a pressure point, touching but not pressing... yet.
She turns her head, eyes never leaving his, and licks the point of the arrow. "Put it down, and let's play."

No Form But Mine
He knows who she is, without the ring needing to tell him. He's never seen her before, or even anything really like her appearance, on earth or any of the dozens of other worlds he's seen, but... he recognises her just the same.
The resemblance to Donna is slight, and more real in his mind than his eyes.
"I... is it... me?"
She just looks at him, her eyes full of... love. Not sadness, not pity.
"Do I have to... I mean, most of us who wear these--" he lifts the hand he wears the ring on, lets it fall back to his side "--well. We don't seem to just, end."
He can't help but think of Hal.
"It's all right, Kyle," she says, taking his hand. His other hand. "Everything will be as it needs to be."
Her eyes are huge and dark. He lets himself fall into them.
Title taken from Elizabeth Stoddard's poem "Last Days."
Kyle Rayner / Death
The day's humidity has turned into a light rain with the temperature drop after sunset. He can't remember the last time he's been in a cemetery when it wasn't dark and raining.
Her headstone is well-tended, which is completely unsurprising. There are fresh flowers aplenty besides the ones he brought -- little silvery-white star-shaped ones, from Kory's garden. He's sure she would've liked them, and liked more that the tension between them has eased enough that Kory could give the flowers to him, for this.
"Donna..." he says, and then stops. He's never felt right talking to people after they were buried.
There's so much he wants to tell her. To have been able to tell her.
How much he misses her. How much he loved her. How much he regrets missing every opportunity to try being more than old-and-dear-friends with her.
The reasons why it never happened seem so stupid, in retrospect. He didn't want to follow the trend Wally and Roy had established, or wash out the way they had if he did give it a try. He hadn't given up on Kory. And then he was committed to Barbara.
He kneels down and puts his hand on her headstone. It's cold and smooth, slick with the rain.
There's a damp footfall behind him, then a hand on his shoulder. "Come on, querida. There's nothing for you here anymore."
He doesn't want to leave just yet, but he doesn't have the will to fight anymore.

Not that the others aren't great, just ... *twitch* I don't even read Green Lantern and I'm still terrified for the poor boy.

But hey, everybody meets Death eventually, don't they?
I read part of Judd's run on GL that had The Terry Thing in it (haven't been able to get my paws on all the issues, so holding off on some of what I do have) and the GA/GL "Black Circle" crossover storyline last year, and then I just picked GL back up again with "Homecoming" this month. I'm not sure that counts as reading Green Lantern or not.

"Creepy" doesn't do her justice.

On a lighter note, you can probably pair Ollie with pretty much everyone, right?

Actually, Ollie's reputation is exaggerated. Exaggerated in large part by Judd Winick of late, but still exaggerated. Granted, a lot of that is lack of opportunity for actual canon; he was, in fact, faithful to Dinah just a few issues before their first breakup (and at that point it was more of a lips problem than a pants problem; he kissed two other girls, one of whom was the catalyst for the breakup when Dinah caught him at it); Shado did have sex with him, and conceive a child during that period, but he was delirious at the time and essentially? Far more clearly rape than what Tarantuala did to Dick lately...
When he's *not* dating Dinah (and when Winick's been writing him, as with Johanna Pierce), yeah, he does sleep around. Unfortunately, even Ollie couldn't manage all *that much* booty--I'll have go count sometime, but I can only remember 2 women offhand, though there may have been one or to more--in the twenty-six issues between his breakup and his death, and post-resurrection, Quiver!Ollie was too bewildered.
Nor has he had much opportunity pre-Dinah, simply because very little of what was originally written about that time is still canon or recognizably refers to the Ollie we know (and love!:)) today. In more recent retcons, yes, we have Connor's mother, Moonday, and a random girl or two referenced or appearing in _The Ring, the Arrow, the Bat_, (there are also rumors about Bonnie King, but nothing substantiated) but his backstory isn't really filled in yet.
So yeah. Ollie needs some work to really live up to his reputation. Which is why y'all should write more Ollie!fic. Ollie cheating on Dinah, at least pre-Quiver, should really require more convincing than Winick implies, if it should even be done at all, but otherwise, please do go ahead.
Now Hal Jordan, OTOH, actually *is* a slut. But that's another discussion...
And you didn't really want to start this one, either, did you, but
If you want to see what

SO. DEAR.
Re: tangentially...
I haven't read Obsidian Age. When is it set?

Really, really not thinking about the relationship of this to your icon or to the topic of discussion:). If you write Ollie/Connor, I'll certainly read it, but oi...!
no subject
Not that I haven't thought about Ollie/Connor, or won't give it a try at some point... But that's something else entirely.
no subject
Though actually, my reaction was one I was intending to have for a while vis-a-vis your icon, so it wasn't entirely superfluous, I suppose...
no subject
Not that I don't plan to write them some nice quasi-incestuous smut, but... well, I *could* have used the version of that blank with Ollie in it, and I didn't.
(As I said, I'll be adding more Arrow-boys to my icon set in the near future. Mmm, Daddy issues. And mmm, Roy.)

Mmm. I'd certainly *like* to pair Ollie with pretty much everyone...
no subject
(You know what Donna called Roy? 'My little Artemis' Heh. Heh. Hehhh)
no subject
'My little Artemis'
That's... just... sixteen flavours of fucked-up. Artemis, the VIRGIN huntress, the lesbian icon of the Greek deities... not to mention the Greek analogue of Roman Diana!
My head hurts now.

I just. Gahhhh. That woman is creepy as fuck. She's either a psychopath or a sociopath, and I don't know enough about her/her past to say which, but honestly I don't *care* which. I don't want her near my Dick! Well, our Dick. But you know what I mean.
It's, like, a new drink or something. InstaCreep--just add Catalina.
So, yeah, I liked it even though I'm yarking over Tarantula, or possibly because I am yarking over her. Because that's pretty much the dynamic I'm foreseeing, too.
no subject
And yeah, I don't want her breathing the same AIR as Dick -- I cringe in anticipation of the next couple months of the Dick-and-Catalina show in NW -- but that's in no way a criticism of the storyline. It's like when Ryeka died; I HATE it, but that's only because of the way Devin makes me care.
that's pretty much the dynamic I'm foreseeing, too
::sigh:: Well, it's not just me, then.

...leading to a need to explain slut!Ollie canon to people, but *you* seem to have known what you were getting into, even if
But still. Ollie, yay!
I liked the Kyle/Death a lot, too. Poor man. Such a legacy to live up to...:) And death should totally look a bit like Donna.

I figure fandom is a big enough place, and most of us fen big enough people, that we can agree to disagree on what version/view of characters we each prefer. Plenty of play-space for everyone.
Re: Donna and Death... I don't think the resemblance is all that strong, physically (though all I've read is the first volume of the Sandman TPB collections and Death: The High Cost of Living, so why the generator keeps trying to get me to write Endless fic I can't fathom), but she would have to *remind* him of Donna.
Is there a convenient post you could point me to summarising (or highlighting) Hal's relationship history? I know there's quite a bit there, and the sooner I get a handle on just what sort of slutty Mr Jordan was... the sooner I can start writing smut about him.
no subject
Which is more what I meant to say, actually, though the Endless vary somewhat in appearance according to who's watching, so she could, in fact, wind up looking more like Donna to Roy than she does in her own or her brother's comic.

Oh, dear. Unfortunately I know of no such convienent post, on my journal or anyone elses (although much of GL, including Hal's romantic history is available for convienent download through zcult last I checked). I've considered writing such a thing, but keep not getting around to it. Maybe soon, if there's smut in the offing...*looks irritatedly at rl responsibilities*
