The "personal horror story" example you shared is exactly the sort of thing I'm talking about. It's frighteningly common, and what makes it even more disturbing is how often it happens with patients who *don't* know enough to challenge the almighty doctor's judgment.

Uh... I'm amazed, frankly, that the rant was coherent at all, much less to a noteworthy degree. I wrote it in the middle of the night when I knew perfectly well I ought to be in bed, and it took me something like four hours to compose. But thanks.
