What the fuck? I'm used to Workers' Comp rules (you generally can't get student loans forgiven due to WC injuries as the assumption is that you are temporarily injured), but the only lien holder who can garnish WC benefits is child services for purposes of child support. And WC -- in CA at least -- pays way more than SSDI (up to two-thirds your weekly income for the first $1260, aka max of $840/wk, while a $1260/wk earner on SSDI would only get $690 and wow does it scare me that I know this off the top of my head).

And this was on an SF resident, wasn't it? Good god almighty, the poor bastard was managing to survive on $874 in one of the most expensive cities in the country and now they want to knock off an extra $100 a month? What, his life wasn't difficult enough as it was?

I have too many friends and relatives on SSDI not to give my rep an earful. Egads, what fuckheads.
