ext_51: Parker from Leverage hanging upside-down, gleeful. (Whoops! Johnny's totally stumped!)
I went to Louisiana this past May to help muck out houses, and it's just... *staggering* when you look at which neighborhoods have been assisted and which haven't. My group worked in St. Bernard's parish, a lower-middle class, mostly white neighborhood, and while there was still a lot of work to be done, the streets were clean and *some* progress was being made. The Ninth Ward... it looks like no one's set foot there since the flood dried, or like it had been abandoned for *years*.

I really should write up my experience there, because some of the stories we heard from people who were there... *shudders*. I can't understand how any reasonable person can *ignore* the racism there.
