Sadly, it appears to be... it still seems to be the male who's flying into the biologically-dictated pon farr-y bits in that paragraph, not the female Spock. I think the different complexion it put on the dynamic was "what if it were a mercy mission", rather than "what if a female Spock beat up guys to mate". Excuse me, my mind is wandering again...
