sunday slash roundup
Oct. 20th, 2002 11:27 pmHallelujah, it's raining slashiness.
In no particular order...
Hack is an insanely slashy show. The boys aren't particularly pretty, but boy howdy do they love each other. Here's the slashy proof:
Pilot ep -- Michael and Marcellus hug in Marcellus' (formerly both their) workspace in the middle of the precinct. Not a back-slapping guy hug, either; full frontal contact, faces in each others' necks.
2nd ep -- Marcellus to Michael, "What, I don't tell you I love you often enough?" I'm not making this up. Apparently CBS is aware how much of a draw that kind of dialogue is, because that line was included in the trailer for the pilot.
3rd ep -- Michael and Marcellus are in an interrogation room. Marcellus is fiddling with a ballpoint pen. Michael reaches out and takes hold of the other end of the pen, and the two of them proceed to stroke their fingers up and down, mutual-masturbating the innocent Bic. I swear, I'm not making this up. Also, Marcellus lets one of his pet names for Michael slip out.
4th ep -- Michael buys Marcellus lunch; won't let him eat fries, cos they're bad for him, but there is a generous pickle on the plate. Not a pickle spear, mind, but a whole pickle, and Marcellus seems to enjoy eating it an awful lot, nibbling, taking his time. I really am not making any of this up, honest.
The props on this show couldn't get any more suggestively phallic without a Luthor in the room.
Annoyingly, John Doe is on at the same time as Hack; I've been taping the latter and watching the former live despite its initial dearth of slashability. This week, though? John goes to talk with a phyisicist about time travel, and the boys hit it off, bantering about Einstein and Hawking. The flirting gets so thick that John's little friend quips, "Why don't you guys get a place together?"
Thanks to the presence of evil ex and his vehicle, I managed to get myself to the comix shop last week. The trade editions of The Authority are now on order for me, and I picked up the four latest issues of Nightwing, conveniently comprising a four-issue arc. Why do I love Dick? (Dick Grayson, wankers.) From his internal monologue in #74:
I don't know if it's just that I'm an adrenaline junkie--
--Or that heavy action reminds me of the good old days with Batman...
...
...Once again, I feel the heat spread through my skin.
Even pain feels good.
I concentrate on my breath control as my muscles stretch.
I mix it up a little -- play -- get my mind into the game...
...Until all other thoughts and worries evaporate with my sweat.
Guh. And it's DC saying Dick associates those feelings with Bruce, mind. I'm on a DC-love high of late.
There's been wonderfulness in actual slash of late, too...
I'm not getting into Harry Potter fandom (never read the books nor seen the film, much less fic), or trying to get anyone else to, but... just read
isilya's An Unexpected Interlude. Why this story? I'm not going to spoil the surprise, either.

hwmitzy finally finished and released The Lost Bizarre Ass Rituals of a Kryptonian Boy, otherwise known as the Ass Hymen Fic. Do not attempt eating, drinking or complicated breathing while reading this. Amazingly, on top of being hysterically funny, LBARKB is generously stuffed with the hot sex, too.
In other madcap hilarity, Cyb added another installment of Based on a True Story here (but has vanished from LJland... we miss you, Cyb!).
Don't think you won't like this story because of the pairing; there's Clark/Lex in it, too, and it's steamy hot and perversely in-character. Best of all, it's finally complete and sequel already begun: Daddy Longlegs by BeresfordLane, Whitney/Lionel. It works. Trust me, go read, you won't be disappointed.
Plus, of course there was Smallville's "Red" and the glut of smut inspired by Clark in leather and flirting outright with Lex, but I'm betting if you're reading this you can find those stories yourself, and have already.
