Hunh. I'd forgotten all about this thing...

I came out of this year's winter-gift-giving-holiday with a US$10 Borders gift card. As there's no brick-and-mortar Borders near enough for me to visit (and the cold snap of evil and pain that's been keeping me indoors shows no signs of letting up, anyway) I'll be heading over to www.borders.com to redeem it.

And here's where my problem manifests. What can you get at Borders for ten bucks?

I mean, sure, I can think of a handful of books, CDs and DVDs (or videotapes) under $10 that I've sort of been meaning to get for awhile, and a somewhat larger handful that would cost just not-much-over $10 before S&H. But there's nothing that's leaping out, screaming "Me! Buy me, Jack! Buy ME!"

So, I'm looking for recommendations. (I don't much trust Borders' own Recommendation feature, no.) Tell me what you think I need to read/hear/watch.

Preferably something that will inspire me to write slash. Er, well, write more.

Hmm. I am bad at recommending things for people! If it were *me*, though, I'd probably go with the Lion in Winter -- either the play script or the DVD, except I already own the latter. But, you know, crazy goodness there. And re: slashiness, there's nice fucked-up-edness with Philip/Richard (and fucked up het with Henry and Eleanor, for that matter, but I'm still waiting for someone to write up for my leftover yuletide request). And that's just the textual pairings.

Duh. Batman books. Greg Rucka's No Man's Land, or any graphic novel.
