Wound up going with "remade" in large part because trying to think of other options led me to "redefined" and I took that as my signal to stop. I considered replacing the first "change" instead of the second, but couldn't come up with a rewrite that didn't read to me weaker than what I had. Also discovered my word count had been off by one, so fixed that and made a couple of cosmetic changes to replace meh words with better ones. Thanks again for playing sounding board, Val. Mwah!
