(Note: I have been gafiated ...for awhile now. I'm still not quite ready to dive back into fandom yet. So, I'm actually not back. But I have no resistance to Te.)

So, I was chatting with Te, moments ago, talking about her recent story Naked as paper, and Dick/Tim, and, of course, the infamous use of 'little brother' in such stories.

--Hold on, let me back up a bit. I acquired a new computer not long ago, and only just recently got round to installing a chat program on it. I went with Trillian.

Apparently the latest version of Trillian has a new feature where, in any given chat window (I think I remember seeing where this can be turned off in the preferences somewhere) certain words and phrases will appear with a dotted underline. This indicates that, if you mouse over that word, an inline popup appears and displays a Wiki definition.

Back to this afternoon's conversation. The entire phrase "little brother" had a dotted underline. So, curious, I moused over it.

And died laughing.

And had to share with Te, who in turn insisted I must share with fandom at large:

Little Brother is a novel by Allan Baillie set in Cambodia about life under the Khmer Rouge.

Little Brother is also a phrase increasingly popular among privacy advocates to refer to the notion that the single greatest threat to conventional notions of individual privacy is not government surveillance, but rather the ability of all individuals to "snoop" on each other with the help of new technology. Compare with Big Brother. Also see Peeping Tom and voyeurism.

As Te says: Tim IS Little Brother.

Me, I'm kinda stuck on "Also see Peeping Tom and voyeurism."

Um. We now return you to your mostly-Jackless fandom...
