multi-purpose update post

Going to try to cover a lot of ground with this one post. I've been neglecting my LJ too much of late.

As you may know, if you've tried IMing me or inviting me recently, I've been writing. A lot. And no, most of it hasn't yet appeared here or anywhere, sorry. Most of it has been a novel-length batshit-insane AU that Te and I are writing, and most of it will continue to be that story until we finish or it kills us.

If you've been waiting for me to come back to Smallville... well, it may yet happen. I'm distracted by other fandoms at the moment, though. And the "Shattered"/"Asylum" storyline was, and remains, really difficult for me. I do have a brief comment on "Whisper" I was wanting to share, though: stupid as it is for Lana's leg to be so completely healed so soon, at least we're no longer subjected to her not being able to even act like she has a limp; Pete not only had lines, not only had enough lines to qualify as dialogue, but was actually integral to the plot; and we finally get to see Her Honour Judge Mama Ross, who is just as bitchin as I would've expected. See? I'm still watching. I'll be back eventually.

I have a group of new icons I'm past due for a GIP about, so this is going to be it.

 

I said in my last GIP that I needed a Munch icon, and there he is, showing off his oral fixation. I also made myself a default-femslash icon I'm happier with, featuring deliciously deadpan Daria and Jane.


  

These three I made using scans graciously posted by other people: David Bowie feeling himself up (from The Man Who Fell to Earth), scan by tvc15; "Superguh" bearded!long-haired!old!Clark (from Alex Ross's Kingdom Come), scan by thefakeheadline; and the "temptation" of Bruce adjusting himself in his jock in front of Tim (from Two-Face Strikes Twice Book 1), scan by domarzione.




This one I cropped down from a gorgeous drawing by glockgal, because I just didn't have enough Dick in my icon set. ::stares some more at source image:: Mmmmm, pretty.




And this one I needed partly due to my newfound obsession with Jason (Todd -- who knew?) and partly because of the aforementioned batshit-insane AU. You'll see...




Last but not least, my Tara. (That's "Tah-ra," not "Terra.") Because with 50 slots to work with, not having a kitty icon is just unconscionable.


So, other things. I have actually written some stories other than the AU, of late, though I haven't been my usual anal self with them. Last week I posted In Lieu of a Lecture, which, at some point, I really need to put through at least some editing, if not a full-on beta. Now that I've got this post done, I can post the one I wrote Friday-night-into-Saturday-morning, after which I got offline to do my weekly Food Not Bombs duties and then promptly passed out for a day. There should also be a post about the Robins' history in fairly short order, thanks to a conversation I had with unovis_lj the other day.

The evil cold weather continues to make my life hell, but if I start bitching about that I'll never get anything else finished.

Well, regardless of whether you actually operated the scanner, you did post the scan over at scans_daily for everyone's enjoyment. That's close enough for me... though if it'll make you feel better I can change it to say "scan provided by miss_porcupine.

Sadly, I don't have the first year and some of Gotham Knights, aside from #1. But I had a look at the synopses of the four parts of the storyline over at dcuguide.com, and taking into account who wrote it -- nobody brings the subtext like Devin -- I think I can imagine how amazingly slashy the issues must have been. Heh. I don't suppose you have any scans to share?

Ah, heck, no, you don't have to change anything. As for Transference... I believe the exact phrase used to describe the Nightwing-Batman relationship is "sticky and hot". (Thank you, Hugo Strange.)

Hadn't really thought about it - it requires a lot of explanation (i.e., why that's not Bruce in the Batsuit, who Hugo is talking about, why Nightwing is bound and on his knees, why Robin's bound and on his knees in another room, why Bruce Wayne's acting so oddly....) I will if there's a real hankering for it, but...
