It's not just you.

If you use the "XColibur" browse format (and chances are you don't know you do, if you do), you've probably noticed over the last couple of days that it's making the tops of pages like the LJ home page, User Info pages, and entry-view pages like this one -- any page that the blue LiveJournal banner appears at the top of -- into a garbled, half-legible mess. Text runs on top of other text, the poster's icon (on entries) appears behind the hotlink menu, important information is obscured.

You may have found that there's no mention on the Support Page of this issue. There's good news: developers are aware of the problem, as attested by responses to an ever-increasing stream of Support Requests about this issue. Why it's not listed in the "Known Issue" box, or been posted about on [livejournal.com profile] lj_maintenance, I don't know. (I summed up what I've figured out about the issue in a comment on the most recent [livejournal.com profile] lj_maintenance post, since there were a bunch of unanswered comments there asking for help with it. I also deleted my own support request, since the problem is already being worked on.)

While we're waiting, LJ has two other browse formats available -- "Dystopia" and "Lynx" -- both of which are working fine. You can change your Browse Preferences here, or go through the menu at the top of the page, Help > Browse Options ...if you can see to use that menu.

This public service announcement brought to you by the Jack is a big, dweeby, nerdy geek.

It's funny, I don't know how I wound up using XColibur -- I remember being mildly annoyed when it suddenly just changed on me -- but now that I've gotten used to it, I don't want to go back to Dystopia. So I hope it gets fixed soon (or, at this point, eventually!), too.
