There still aren't any DC Direct (or even Mattel) action figures for Static Shock (yeah, I'm still on about that show. I promise I'll get back to Batman and his fucked-up family soon, okay?). There may never be.

But.

Check it out!

This is the 4" Static (Virgil) figure now available at participating Subway sandwich shops; it's one of the toys being offered with their "Kids Pack" meals through the end of May. (Sadly, the other three are complete suck.) The meal I bought cost me $3.69 -- actually not a bad price for an action figure, and I got a 100%-juice juicebox, fruit roll-up, and a rather tasty turkey sandwich along with it.

Static has four points of articulation; neck, shoulders, and waist. His lower half will actually rotate all the way around, 180 degrees, which is kind of creepy and gave me Spaceballs flashbacks. His cape is that nice flexible plastic (vinyl? is there a materials engineer reading this who can help me get even geekier about this stuff?) that lets you bend the cape -- or, in Static's case, jacket -- back as if it's flying out behind him, or just to check out his butt. Most of the figure is molded from a non-rigid plastic, in fact... the head may be a different substance, but it's too small to really tell. The benefit of this is, of course, that Static's knees can be made to bend with a reasonable amount of pressure.

Now if only there were a matching Gear figure. Virgil looks like he's imagining Richie is there on his knees already...

Well, yeah I guess you have seen it as well as many others. :) Anyways, my user name is pronounced: naekei weedah. Neci in latin means passionate/fiery, and Ouida is 16th Century French pronunciation of a Portuguese port on the Gulf of Guinea. I found that it meant warrior, but the port is now the capital of the Vadoun religion. The warrior part fits my spirit rather well. Though it does sound kinda weird. well then again that fits too. :)
